Meditation

What is meditation? Well in short meditation is self-care, taking personal time to sit in peace giving your body total and complete relaxation. It is a mental concentration to free your mind of negative thoughts, calms the mind and giving yourself a higher level and awareness. For most people meditation takes some time and major focus to be able to shut the mind down and focus on being in the present in a state of total concentration, however after some consistent practice it becomes second nature.

There are so many benefits that come with meditation mentally and physically. Some areas meditation can help are reducing and coping with stress, anxiety, depression. Even meditating for just 10 minutes a day can help you start cleansing your life in the most positive way. It allows you to be calm and focus on being present, focusing on the now, focusing on what is important and getting rid of what no longer serving you. Ridding the mind of negative thoughts is the most powerful thing you can do.

Meditation also helps you improve the quality of your life, improving creativity, increasing energy, relieving stress and generating a better focused mind. There are many apps and books to help you get started if you are unsure of how to start and need some direction. Feel the Vibrations

We got our vibe plate about a month a go.  I have to tell you I love this thing.  Not only is it fun but it is invigorating to the spine, joints, and muscles.  I started off doing balance exercises and then doing exercises like squats and front kicks.  I have since started to experiment with many different yoga positions to move the vibrations into different areas of the body.  I also have a rapid release massager that provides localized vibrations.  I have started to work on some old injuries in my body with the idea that the vibration will increase blood flow thus creating higher levels of oxygen aiding in the healing process.  Here is my take on the benefits of the Vibe Plate circulation, lymphatic movement, neuro pathway activity, increased oxygenation, balance, fast twitch muscle fiber recruitment and on and on.  The vibe plate as many of the benefits of a rebounded  with the added benefit of being able to do many static exercises.  If I sit for a while I often find myself doing a quick couple of minutes on the vibe plate to release tension and soreness.  So far I can tell you I feel great.  Check out the articles below for some interesting reading.

Exercise While Oxygen Training (EWOT)

Do you want to look like a Air Force One Jet Fighter Pilot?  Everyone knows oxygen is important.   Well, just to reemphasize the importance of Oxygen.  You can live with out water for days and without food for a month or so depending on your fat reserves but Oxygen is another story.  Normal air has 21 percent Oxygen.  But we fill a 900 litre bag with 95% oxygen that is more than 4 times normal air.  Then we do a 21 minute Vasper session to get the blood flowing and the lungs moving.  The bag gets completely emptied during the session.

About half way through the work out the heart beats per minute will reduce.   I am not a doctor but if I can just explain it with my own thought pattern this is when the body gets saturated with oxygen.  While exercising with oxygen you have more endurance and can exercise harder.  If you have ever worked out hard you experienced gasping for air.  Your body is trying to get an extreme amount of oxygen.

Cooling

Everyone knows that ice reduces swelling of injuries and the importance of cooling down after working out.  If you read online there are many cooling devices even freezing with many benefits far and wide.  Have you ever thought of working out and being cooled simultaneously?

Great idea right well it wasn’t mine.  There are already devices you can wear around your neck while exercising that cool the body which has been shown to increase performance.  A NASA inventor Peter Z. Wasowski designed Vasper which uses a recumbent bike and cuffs on the arms and legs that provide cooling and compression.  Vasper uses various 21 minute interval workouts to get the heart rate up.  The compression causes lactic acid to build up and the brain to release healing hormones.  This sensation with traditional exercise takes much longer but with Vasper it is accomplished in 21 minutes.  The provided cooling at 47 degrees reduces inflammation and recovery time dramatically.

Not only does Vasper cool you while exercising but after the exercise there is a cooling table that actively cools your spinal fluid.  At first, the cold may be shocking to the body but as you become accustomed to the cooling the body relaxes and it is a refreshing and soothing experience.

Compression

There are many products on the Internet touting the benefits of Compression.  Athletes are wearing compression clothing while exercising.  The medical industry has been using compression to speed up recovery by improving circulation and moving lymphatic fluid.  You may have seen inflating leg sleeves in hospitals.  NASA researchers have found a new way to use compression.

With this method arm cuffs and leg cuffs are worn while exercising.  The compression in the cuffs causes lactic acid to accumulate and a burning sensation mainly in the legs, the feeling you would get if you did squats for 20 mins straight,  all this happens in the first 2 – 5 minutes.  During the 21 minute exercise the lactic acid builds rapidly and signals the brain to release hormones for recovery.  The exercise is done on a low impact recumbent bike that has been brutally tested by Navy Seals.
